IAmNøt – Changes LP

Sofia Nøt from the project IAmNøt is a DJ and a producer from Bratislava/Slovakia, who just released her debut album “Changes”.

The album stems from the sounds of electronic dance music of the 90s and describes Sofia’s battle with gender identity. The music video for the track “Changes” won a prize at an international festival in Košice and participated in a prestigious ‘London Music Video Festival. In this video, Sofia kills her “old self” with an axe.

Since 2019 IAmNøt has posted her singles online. Many are also accompanied by story-driven music videos from director Simon Seriš. The music style comprises many genres, including breakbeat, techno, and synth-wave.

In the past three years, Sofia played DJ’s sets filled with breakbeats and 4/4 rhythms across the Czech Republic and Slovakia. You could see her, for example, at the Brutal Assault festival this summer.

Sofia’s debut album “Changes” was released on 9th September and is now available on all major digital platforms and a 12” vinyl record from labels Urbsounds and Haluzeum Produkt. The LP can be ordered directly on the Urbsounds or digitally by Bandcamp.

Urbsounds’Unpolished fidelity – various artists

Urbsounds'Unpolished fidelity

The Bratislava DIY collective celebrates its twentieth anniversary with new, unheard music on vinyl. The world has changed a lot since the beginning of the millennium. However, Urbsounds still go for noisy and dirty experimental electronics, from which you can feel the spirit of abandoned industrial spaces and punk squats. They commemorate their 20th anniversary with ten tracks created especially for the Unpolished fidelity compilation. It’s an abstract, raw, aggressive statement, attempting to tame their energy on record. It’s music that takes no prisoners. Urbsounds have never forgotten their punk past, carrying this as the main line throughout their twenty years.

The DIY approach to making and releasing music and organizing parties remained. Synths and tone generators replaced punk guitars. It is a spontaneous, immediate piece built on interaction with hardware. Capturing the moment of jamming on sound modules, effects, and other boxes is more important than composition and studio procedures. It’s music that will never be popular. It’s music for the faithful, for the community.

Urbsounds have been maintaining it for twenty years, but they are open to new people – both listeners and creators. Urbsounds also released foreign musicians, but on LP Unpolished Fidelity, you will find their hardcore, only Slovak music.

Tracks are by the founders of the collective – Urbanfailure and RBNX. Ex-Jamka Daniel Kordík and Monika Šubrtová are today respected soloists known internationally. Here we find samples of their current sound, i.e., modular worlds and dystopian, slow techno. It’s not just noise here. On Unpolished Fidelity, you can hear IDM (NDS), hypnotic techno (Makkatu), deep psychedelic dives (Vŕtačky po desáté hodine), industrial (Dead Janitor), and tekno (Maraki). Music never sounds the same, and you can always find something new in it. It’s music that must be listened to loud, on noisy equipment.

Adam Matej, a generation younger creator of electronic music performing as DJ GÄP, took care of the Unpolished Fidelity master.

Boris Vitázek, a renowned new media artist, designed the cover art and design.

Unpolished Fidelity releases on LP (marbled green limited to 100pcs and black limited to 100pcs.) and digital on August 20, 2022. The release party will be on the same day in Bratislava’s A4.

Mulo Muto | Black/Lava new tape release

Mulo Muto | Black/Lava

New cassette album Worlds Corroding Under Xenomorphs` Ejaculations by Mulo Muto and Black/Lava releases on the 10th of January. Be prepared for the finest sci-fi industrial experience. Cassette is coreleased by Italian Extreme Underground and Marbre Negre.

Mulo Muto Black/Lava cassete

“Worlds Corroding Under Xenomorphs’ Ejaculations” is a collaborative album between post-industrial Swiss-based duo MULO MUTO and the Italian electronic duo BLACK/LAVA.”Worlds Corroding Under Xenomorphs’ Ejaculations” is a concept album based on a dystopian world, which is violated and derided by a mysterious alien race. At first, the aliens observe the humans with some scientific interest, then, after being utterly disappointed, decide to invade the planet in order to submit and make fun of those human beings, who are not able to collaborate among themselves and overcome their need for prominence and arrogance. In the eyes of the alien invaders, the humans confirmed their vulnerability when confronted with the immensity of the cosmos and sealed their fate as a failed planet. In order to depict these events and environments, the 7 tracks of this album made heavily used synths, field recordings, guitar experimentations, percussions, treated voices, electroacoustic, and sampling techniques. No human or aliens were harmed in the making of this album.

Mulo Muto:
Attila Folklor – noise machines, modular synthesizer, FX pedals, throat
Joel Gilardini – baritone guitars, loops, noises

Black/Lava
Enkil – [d]ronin, synths, objects
Fabio Olivero – machines, field recordings, percussions, vocals and laments
