Dead Janitor’s ‘Post’: Fusion of Organic Soundscapes and not only Post-Punk
The new album Post can be considered an author’s infiltration into post-punk structures, representing an essential stage in forming Dead Janitor’s musical identity.
Infiltration has a dual nature. It is a fusion of distinctly organic compositions and repetitive sequences. The sequences are references – post-punk relics, which the author works within an emancipated way vis-a-vis the original genre, doesn’t adapt to it sonically and preserves his existing handwriting in the recordings, full of it (which I would like to consult with you). This opens up new possibilities for interpreting dystopian scenery, deconstructions, and musical revolts characteristic of the genre.
The world that Dead Janitor offers
contains its own language, actions and reactions, and living forms that are born and existing in its musical environment. With its approach, the album also thematizes a frequent issue of the
contemporary music scene in Slovakia: How to use a reference and at the same time preserve a sovereign musical identity? How to work with an inspiration source so that the source does not become a victim of authorial parasitism? Dead Janitor answers. (-Pavel Bakajsa-)
Post releases on 22nd February 2025 on cassette and digital.
Join us at the release party and Urbsounds label night on the same day in a4, Bratislava.
